This martial art originated in the USSR. November 16, 1938, the USSR Physical Culture and Sports Committee issued a decree on “Developing a Freestyle Wrestling”. This date is considered the official birth date of this sport. Sambo combines the best practices of the national martial arts: stand-up fighting, Russian, Georgian, Tatar, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Uzbek wrestling as well as French-Finnish, American freestyle techniques, English wrestling of the Lancashire and Cumberland styles, Japanese judo and sumo etc. --------------- The 100th Anniversary of the Beginning of World War I Country / Post : Russian Federation Primary theme : Military (Military uniforms) History (World War I & II) Date of Issue : 30 July 2014 Subject : History of the First World War - Russian Expeditionary Force Denomination : 20.00 RUB Number in set : 4 Description : Osowiec was a Russian pivotal fortress built 50 km from Białystok city. During 1914-1915 it was attacked by the German forces three times including a chemical attack. Russian army repulsed all the attempted assaults and withstood the 190-days siege. Defense of the Osowiec fortress is a perfect example of courage and valor of Russian soldiers. In 1916, Russian forces commanded by General Alexey Brusilov inflicted a serious defeat on Austro-Hungarian and German armies and freed a major part of the Western Ukraine in the course of operation named the Brusilov Offensive. This offensive turned the tide of World War I in favor of the Triple Entente. Erzurum Offensive was a major offensive by the Russian Army on the Caucasus Campaign at the beginning of 1916. In the course of hostilities Russian forces completely crushed the Third Army of the Ottoman Empire and seized the city of Erzurum, the enemy’s strategic center of resistance. At the same day the order of the Army Commander was announced in every regiment, detachment and battery of Caucasus Army expressing gratitude for courageous discharge of military duty to the Russian Fatherland. | 2013 The XXVII Summer Universiade, Kazan Country / Post : Russia Date of Issue : 25 June 2013 Description :The first Summer Student Games were held in May 1923 in Paris. In 1928 the first Winter Games took place. The Student Games have already taken place in Russia - in 1973 in Moscow. In 2013 Kazan city will host the Summer Universiade. This event will gather young athletes from all over the world in the city with unique multinational heritage, will continue the Russian sport traditions, will act as jumping-off place for the new generations of athletes. He was the leader of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV). In 1982, Hugo Chávez, together with his comrades-in-arms, an undercover organization called Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement-200 (MBR-200). He attempted a coup d’état February 4, 1992. The coup failed and Hugo Chávez had to surrender himself to the government. In 1994, Chávez was freed by President Rafael Caldera and founded the Fifth Republic Movement soon after. Enjoying incredible popularity, Hugo Chávez have won 4 consecutive presidential elections. The last elections were held in October 2012, when Chávez won the mandate to rule the country till 2019. The stamp depicts a portrait of Chavez against a waving flag of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on the background. And FDC with cancellation (Moscow) has been prepared for the release. |

The capital is Vaduz. Its main attraction is an Art Gallery which is belonged to the Princely family. It includes about 1500 paintings of world famous artists: Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Brueghel, Rubens and as well as of the Russian painter, representative of symbolism and modern – Ivan Grigorievich Myasoedov. In 1930s he changed his name to Euvgeniy Zotov and immigrated with his family to Liechtenstein where he was a court artist. The postage stamps depict the images of I.G. Myasoedov (E. Zotov) “The Argonauts” (1909) and “Silum” (1945) being kept in the State Russian Museum and in the Private collection of Doctor Peter Goop. The artistic cover is prepared for the issue: there are two postage stamps and FDC with the cancellation of the Russian Federation and two postage stamps and FDC with the cancellation of the Principality of Liechtenstein. |
